I am compiling a playlist for my ski trip this weekend, and it is chock-full of Bonobo, whose music has been a longtime staple for my iPod on the slopes. British producer & DJ Simon Green’s music has a magical, psychadelic, jazzy sound that evokes all the calm, inspirational sounds of nature. Nothing Owed is the track that first popped into my head upon thinking of Bonobo, as did his album Dial M For Monkey ... But all his music is unique and amazing. If you’ve never heard it, here are some samples of his most popular tracks. Ketto, Noctuary & Terrapin are particular gems. He is definitely one of my favorite musicians, and also on the top of my list of artists that I have yet to see perform live. If you’re looking for a change of pace from typical EDM, these tracks are guaranteed to bring you peace and calm after a loooong day. At least they do for me :)

Soon My Friend – M83

I’ve heard great things about this London post-dubstep producer, SBTRKT (pronounced Subtract). Unlike typical hard dubstep that first comes to mind, post-dubstep is characterized by a calmer, ambient sound along with atypical methods of combining musical instruments with a dubstep beat. SBTRKT keeps his identity a mystery, choosing to subtract his name from his music, letting it speak for itself. He wears native tribal masks when he performs to conceal his face.

Enjoy this track that I can’t get enough of, called Wildfire. HIT IT.
